Obverse description An allegorical female figure, draped in classical robes, seated facing left and holding a torch or poppy-head sceptre in her raised left hand, surrounded by symbols of industry and the arts including a spinning wheel to her left, a lyre and bearded male mask to her right, and architectural structures in the background. The engravers' signature appears in the lower exergue.

Reverse description The quartered royal arms of England and France (lions passant guardant and fleurs-de-lis), surmounted by a ducal or mural crown, displayed on a shield within a beaded border.
