Obverse description High-relief bare-headed bust of Virgil in right profile, rendered in a classical idealized style, occupying the central field. The legend is arranged in two arcs to either side of the bust, with VIRGILIUS inscribed below in the exergue area. A engraver's signature appears at the truncation of the neck.
