Obverse description A standing allegorical female figure in classical dress holds a pair of scales in her raised right hand and a fasces in her left, with a heraldic shield bearing the inscription INSTITUTED MARCH MDCCCXXII resting at her side and an anchor to the right. The circular legend ROYAL STANDARD BENEFIT SOCIETY runs around the upper field, while the Latin motto PALMAM QUI MERUIT FERAT appears in a rectangular cartouche in the lower exergue, below a floral ornament.
