Obverse description The central field displays Nelson's heraldic coat of arms within an oval shield, flanked by two scrolling ribbons bearing the motto PALMAM QUI MERUIT FERAT and TRIA JUNCTA IN UNO. Above the shield is a small right-facing bust of Admiral Lord Nelson in uniform, surmounted by a plume. The surrounding legend reads ADMIRAL LORD NELSON D. OF BRONTE and ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY, with birth and death dates inscribed in the lower field.
