Obverse description Central shield bearing two sea-dragons (dolphins), surmounted by a helmeted bust in profile facing right, flanked by foliate sprays. A scroll beneath the shield bears the motto ABSQUE LABORE NIHIL, with the founding date 1859 and abbreviation FSTD flanking the shield. The circular legend around the raised rim reads BRIGHTON GRAMMAR SCHOOL and BUCKINGHAM ROAD.
