Obverse description The obverse features a composite panoramic view of iconic Vienna landmarks in relief, including the Hofburg Palace at left, St. Stephen's Cathedral with its distinctive spire at centre, the Prater Riesenrad (giant Ferris wheel) above, and a Fiaker horse-drawn carriage at right, with the Schönbrunn Palace façade depicted in the lower field. The legend WIEN appears prominently in large raised letters across the centre of the design, flanked by four circular decorative elements in the field.

Reverse description The reverse displays a large relief of the Austrian imperial double-headed eagle bearing a shield with the red-white-red Austrian colours on its breast, with sceptre and sword in its talons and a crown above, occupying the central field. Six edelweiss flower ornaments are arranged around the eagle, the Roman numeral date MMIX appears at lower right, and the curved legends AUSTRIAN HERITAGE at top and COLLECTORS COIN at bottom frame the design.
