| Reverse description | Hercules depicted nude and standing in a frontal pose, with head turned to the right. His proper right hand rests upon a grounded club, while his left hand holds a bow; the Nemean lion skin is draped over his left arm, alluding to his first Labour. The letters P and F appear divided across the fields to either side of the figure, referencing the Legio II Traiana Fortis. The encircling reverse legend LEG II TRAIANA P-F identifies the military unit honored by this emission, a rare legionary aureus of the Gallic Empire. |
