Obverse description Laureate bust of Vespasian facing left, with drapery visible on the left shoulder, rendered in the realistic portraiture style characteristic of Flavian imperial coinage. The emperor's features are rendered with pronounced naturalism, including a strong brow and mature facial structure typical of his known likeness. The encircling Latin legend runs along the outer border of the flan. The portrait conveys imperial authority through its confident, slightly idealized treatment within the conventions of Roman die engraving.
