Obverse description Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristically bold and naturalistic portraiture typical of Flavian coinage. The emperor's strong facial features — prominent brow, heavy jowls, and firmly set mouth — are rendered with uncompromising realism. The laurel wreath sits closely upon the head, with individual leaves and berries finely detailed. The legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan, partially visible owing to the irregular planchet edges.
