Reverse description The god Mars Ultor (the Avenger) depicted as a helmeted, muscular figure striding vigorously to the right in the field, clad in military attire. In his right hand he carries a spear leveled forward, while over his left shoulder he bears a large battlefield trophy — a representation of captured enemy arms and armor. The reverse legend flanks the figure in two vertical columns, the whole composition conveying martial energy and dynastic legitimacy characteristic of early Flavian imperial coinage.
