Obverse description Bare-headed, laureate bust of Emperor Vespasian facing right, rendered in high relief with strongly individualized portrait features characteristic of Flavian dynastic coinage. The effigy displays the emperor's distinctive broad, fleshy face with prominent brow and firmly set jaw, conveying authority and gravitas. The laurel wreath, symbol of imperial and military triumph, encircles the head. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG, arranged clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is boldly modeled in the naturalistic Roman tradition, occupying the majority of the obverse field.
