| Descripción del reverso | The personification of Pax seated to the left on a throne or chair, her body draped in a flowing garment with the lower legs partially exposed. In her extended left hand she holds an olive branch, symbol of peace, while her right hand grasps a caduceus resting against her shoulder, an attribute of Mercury emblematic of concord and prosperity. The figure is rendered with careful attention to drapery folds, and the composition fills the field with quiet authority. The encircling legend, divided to either side of the central type, references Vespasian's second consulship and his assumption of tribunician power, key elements of his constitutional legitimacy in this inaugural year. |
