| Obverse description | Laureate draped bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, with paludamentum (military cloak) visible over the left shoulder, rendered in the robust, naturalistic portraiture characteristic of Trajanic coinage. The emperor's features are strongly modelled, with a prominent brow and close-cropped hair beneath the laurel wreath. The encircling legend runs from the lower left, reading IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS V P P, disposed around the bust in crisp, well-spaced capital letters. The portrait conveys the imperial authority and military character for which Trajan's coinage is celebrated. |
