| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered with fine portraiture typical of the high imperial period, the laurel wreath rendered with characteristic realism. The emperor's paludamentum is visible at the shoulder, fastened and falling behind. A circular beaded border frames the design, with the imperial titulature legend fully surrounding the bust within the field. |

| Reverse description | The emperor Trajan, in military attire and holding a transverse spear in his right hand, strides energetically to the right in the PROFECTIO type, symbolising his departure on campaign. He is accompanied by four soldiers: one standard-bearer or soldier marching ahead of him, and two or three armed legionaries following behind, all rendered in dynamic relief. The scene conveys imperial military authority and the ritual departure for war. The reverse legend is placed in the exergue and upper field. |
