Obverse lettering IMP NERVA TRAIANVS AVG GER DACICVS
(Translation: Imperator Nerva Traianus Augustus, Germanicus, Dacicus. Supreme commander (Imperator), Nerva Trajan, emperor (Augustus), conqueror of the Germans, conqueror of the Dacians.)
Reverse description Emperor Trajan standing upright in a triumphal quadriga advancing to the left, holding an olive branch in his right hand and a long sceptre in his left, evoking the imagery of a Roman triumph. The four horses are rendered in vigorous motion, their legs depicted at varying gaits in the hammered relief style. The reverse legend is distributed in the field on either side of the composition, flanking the triumphant scene. The overall design celebrates Trajan's military victories and his constitutional offices, consistent with the iconographic program of his Dacian War coinage.
