| 背面描述 | A detailed architectural façade of the Forum of Trajan depicted in frontal elevation, showing a grand colonnaded screen with multiple arched bays separated by engaged columns, each bay containing statuary figures in the intercolumniations. Above the entablature, a row of standing figures or trophies is arranged along the roofline, reinforcing the monument's triumphal character. The exergual legend FORVM TRAIAN appears in the lower field beneath the structure, identifying this celebrated complex inaugurated in AD 112. The engraving displays the fine architectural draftsmanship typical of the finest Trajanic aurei. |

The Forum of Trajan, completed around 112 AD under the architect Apollodorus of Damascus, required the excavation of an entire spur of the Quirinal Hill — an engineering feat so extraordinary that the Column erected within it was calibrated to mark the original height of earth removed. This aureus commemorates that project directly, issued as the complex neared or reached completion before Trajan's departure for the Parthian campaign.
Calicó 1031 is among the better-documented die pairings for this type. The series is not especially rare, but individual pieces vary considerably in strike quality due to the short production window before military priorities absorbed mint output.
