| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate bust of Titus facing right, with a draped shoulder, rendered in the naturalistic portraiture style characteristic of Flavian imperial coinage. The emperor's effigy displays the short, curly hair typical of Titus, encircled by a laurel wreath as symbol of imperial victory and divine favour. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan, separated from the bust by a smooth field. The die-work reflects the accomplished engraving of the Rome mint under the Flavian dynasty. |
