Obverse description Draped bust of Empress Plotina facing right, her hair elaborately dressed in the fashionable stacked Trajanic style with a stephane or diadem visible at the crown, rendered with fine engraving characteristic of the Rome mint under Trajan. The bust is depicted with a slender, idealized portrait showing a long neck and elegant drapery at the shoulder. The circular legend PLOTINA AVG IMP TRAIANI runs along the periphery, interrupted by a border of small beads. The portrait conveys both imperial dignity and the refined aesthetic sensibility of early second-century Roman die engraving.
