| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Nerva facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curly hair beneath the laurel wreath and aegis or paludamentum visible at the truncation. The imperial effigy displays the aged, distinctive physiognomy of Nerva with pronounced facial features characteristic of Flavian-era portraiture. The encircling legend IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TR P COS III P P runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan, separated from the bust by a smooth inner field. The obverse is struck on a slightly irregular, broad flan typical of Nervan aurei produced at the Rome mint. |
