背面描述 A laurel wreath, tied at the base with a decorative knot, occupies the central field of the reverse, encircling the inscription EX SC in two lines within the wreath, indicating senatorial authority. The surrounding circumferential legend PONTIF MAX TR P IIII P P runs within a beaded border. The wreath is rendered in fine detail with individual leaves, consistent with the refined die-cutting of early Neronian aurei struck at Rome.

附加信息

This issue dates to Nero's fourth tribunician year, a moment before the principate had fully revealed its darker character — Agrippina the Younger had been dead less than a year when the earliest specimens left the dies, her murder in 59 AD falling just outside this emission's window. The PONTIF MAX title places Nero squarely in the religious authority he inherited from Claudius, whose adoption of him in 50 AD had set all of this in motion.

Calicó 423 is among the scarcer of the early Neronian aurei, with specimens appearing infrequently at major auction houses.
