正面铭文 MAXIMIANVS AVGVSTVS
(Translation: Maximianus Augustus. Maximian, emperor (Augustus).)
背面描述 The emperor Maximianus stands facing left, draped and cuirassed, his right hand raised in a gesture of adlocutio (address or salute), while his left hand holds a transverse spear. Behind the standing figure, four military standards (ensigns) are prominently displayed, symbolising imperial command over the legions. The composition conveys themes of martial prowess and imperial authority in the tradition of late Roman coinage. The reverse legend is disposed around the field within a beaded border.

附加信息

Maximianus ruled as co-emperor under Diocletian's tetrarchic system, introduced in 285 AD — a deliberate structural response to the near-collapse of Roman imperial authority during the Crisis of the Third Century. The titulature P M TR P P P (Pontifex Maximus, Tribunicia Potestate, Pater Patriae) marks this as an early issue, before the more elaborate regnal numbering that appears on later tetrarchic gold.

RIC V.2 600 is attributed to the Siscia or Ticinum mint, both active during Maximianus's western campaigns against the Bagaudae rebels in Gaul.
