| Beschrijving keerzijde | A lion passant to the left occupies the central field, rendered with vigorous musculature in the late Republican engraving tradition. A six-pointed or eight-rayed star appears in the upper field above the lion's back, serving as a celestial symbol associated with divine favour or dynastic legitimacy. The encircling Latin legend III·VIR·R·P·C·COS·DESG·ITER·ET·TERT runs around the full periphery of the coin, reading the titles of Marcus Antonius as one of the triumvirs for the restoration of the republic and consul designate for the second and third time. The overall composition is bold and emblematic, consistent with the propagandistic coinage issued by Antonius from his moving military mint. |
