| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Marcus Antonius facing right, rendered in bold high relief with strong naturalistic features characteristic of late Republican portraiture. The hair is rendered in short, tousled locks swept forward over the brow. The bust is set within a prominent beaded border occupying the inner field. The circular legend M·ANTONIVS·IMP·III·VIR·R·P·C runs around the periphery, identifying him as Imperator and one of the triumvirs responsible for the reconstitution of the Roman state. |
