Obverse description Bare head of Marcus Aemilius Lepidus facing left, rendered with fine engraving showing short, neatly arranged hair and a youthful portrait. The legend encircles the effigy within a beaded border, reading M · LEPIDVS · III · VIR · R · P · C, identifying Lepidus as one of the triumvirs for the restoration of the Republic. The portrait is boldly struck in high relief, characteristic of the late Republican coinage of the Triumviral period. The field is smooth and the dotted border is well preserved.
