Obverse description Laureate head of Constantine I facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed radiate wreath of laurel leaves tied at the nape. The portrait displays a strongly modelled jaw and prominent features characteristic of the Constantinian dynastic style. The encircling legend is incuse in crisp Latin capitals running clockwise from the lower left field. The flan exhibits the slightly irregular outline typical of early fourth-century hammered aurei struck at the eastern imperial mint of Antioch.
