| Descrizione del dritto | Veiled and wreathed head of Julius Caesar in right-facing profile, rendered in high relief with strong, individualised features characteristic of late Republican portraiture. The head is adorned with a laurel wreath over a veil, a combination of priestly and military honours emblematic of Caesar's religious and political offices. The legend C•CAESAR COS•TER is disposed around the periphery, identifying Gaius Julius Caesar as Consul for the Third Time. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border, typical of aureus coinage of this period. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Central field dominated by a group of pontifical emblems arranged in a compositional cluster: a lituus (augural staff with curved top) to the upper right, an urceus (ritual jug or ewer) at centre, a capis (sacrificial ladle) to the left, and an aspergillum (sprinkler) below, all emblematic of Caesar's role as Pontifex Maximus. The legend A•HIRTIVS•PR runs along the left field, identifying Aulus Hirtius as Praetor and the issuing magistrate responsible for this coinage. The reverse field is plain and unadorned save for the symbols, enclosed within a beaded border consistent with the obverse. |
