In his left hand he holds a long trident upright, while his right hand extends downward clasping a dolphin by its tail. The composition fills the coin's field dynamically, with the prow rendered at lower right and the legend distributed to either side of the deity. The dotted border frames the design, and the reverse legend references Hadrian's pontifical and consular titles, linking Neptune's maritime authority to imperial power. |
