Reverse description Hercules standing facing within a tetrastyle temple, his head turned to the right, resting his right hand upon a grounded club and holding the Hesperidean apples in his left hand. Flanking the temple steps are two subsidiary figures: to one side a bearded river god reclines facing left, and to the other a ship's prow is depicted to the right, alluding to Hadrian's maritime associations. The architectural setting is rendered in careful perspective, with columns framing the heroic figure.
