| Reverse description | The personification of Hispania reclines to the left, her semi-draped figure supported on rocky ground, her torso turned slightly toward the viewer. She extends her right hand forward presenting an olive or laurel branch, a symbol of the province's fertile resources. A rabbit — an emblematic animal of the Iberian Peninsula widely associated with Hispania on Roman coinage — crouches at lower left in the exergual field. The legend HISPANIA appears prominently in large capitals across the upper portion of the reverse field, identifying the allegorical figure as the personification of the province. |
