| Obverse description | Bare-necked bust of Hadrian, laureate and bearded, facing right, rendered in the naturalistic portraiture style characteristic of Hadrianic coinage. The emperor's mature, bearded visage is finely detailed, with the laurel wreath clearly delineated atop his head. The encircling legend runs along the outer border of the obverse field. The portrait exhibits the high-relief craftsmanship typical of early second-century Roman imperial gold coinage. |
