| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped bust of Hadrian facing left, rendered with finely engraved curly hair and short beard characteristic of his mature portraiture. The emperor's effigy is executed in high relief with strong facial features, the neck truncation bare and unadorned. The circumferential Latin legend runs along the border of the flan, partially visible on the left and right sides of the field. The overall style reflects the accomplished die-cutting of the Roman Imperial mint during Hadrian's later reign. |
