| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a three-line inscription — S P Q R / OB / C S — set within a large, finely detailed oak wreath (corona civica), tied at the base with a bow and surmounted by a single pellet or globe at the apex. The wreath is rendered with carefully engraved individual leaves and berries. A beaded border encircles the entire reverse field. The corona civica, the traditional Roman civic crown awarded for saving a citizen's life, is here employed as a powerful symbol of Galba's claim to legitimacy and the gratitude of the Roman state. The spare, epigraphic composition deliberately echoes Augustan precedent, reinforcing Galba's self-presentation as a restorer of traditional Roman values. |
