| Obverse lettering | SERV GALBA IMP (Translation: Servius Galba Imperator Servio Galba, supreme commander (Imperator).) |
| Reverse description | The personification of Roma depicted helmeted and in full military dress, striding vigorously to the right in a pose of triumphant renewal. In her extended right hand she holds a small Victory standing on a globe, while her left hand bears an eagle-tipped sceptre, the two attributes together symbolising the resurgence of Roman power. The reverse legend ROMA RENASCENS, meaning 'Rome reborn,' encircles the field within a beaded border, proclaiming the ideological message of Galba's regime. The design is executed in the bold, high-relief hammered style characteristic of aurei of the Year of the Four Emperors. |
