Obverse description Laureate head of Domitian facing right, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and laurel wreath. The portrait is youthful in character, befitting his title as Caesar and son of the reigning emperor Vespasian. The circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, running from lower left to upper right, contained within a beaded border. The engraving displays the confident, naturalistic style characteristic of Flavian imperial portraiture.
