The emperor's portrait displays closely cropped curling hair across the forehead and naturalistically modelled facial features. | Opis rewersu | Domitian standing in a triumphal quadriga advancing left, holding an olive branch in his right hand and a sceptre in his left, as befitting a triumphing general. The car of the chariot is decorated with a relief depiction of Victory crowning a trophy, alluding to Domitian's Germanic campaigns. The four horses are rendered in lively motion. The surrounding legend records his victory title and seventeenth consulship, reading GERMANICVS COS XVII. |
