She holds an upright spear in her right hand, while her left arm rests at her side. The figure is rendered in the round, occupying the full height of the field, with the surrounding legend GERMANICVS COS XIIII distributed on either side, all within a beaded border. Minerva, Domitian's divine patron, was a recurring type on his coinage and her presence here reinforces his claimed military prestige. |
