| Beschrijving keerzijde | Standing figure of Minerva, goddess of wisdom and war, depicted in three-quarter view advancing to the right. She is helmeted and clad in military dress over a long chiton, brandishing a javelin or thunderbolt aloft in her raised right hand while carrying a large round shield on her left arm. A trophy or standard may be discerned at her side. The legend GERMANICVS COS XIIII is distributed around the field within a beaded border, reading from left to right across the upper and right portions of the coin. The reverse type is a hallmark of Domitianic gold coinage, reflecting the emperor's personal devotion to Minerva. |
