Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Emperor Domitian facing right, rendered with fine naturalistic detail characteristic of Flavian portraiture, depicting the emperor with short, curly hair and a strong, slightly fleshy profile. The effigy occupies the majority of the flan, with the truncation of the neck visible at the lower right. The encircling legend DOMITIANVS AVGVSTVS is inscribed in crisp Latin capitals within a beaded border, distributed around the periphery of the coin.
