| 表面の説明 | Draped bust of Domitia Longina facing right, her hair elaborately dressed in a bundle of curls at the front and gathered into a long plaited queue descending at the back, a distinctive coiffure characteristic of Flavian imperial portraiture. The effigy is rendered with fine detail, conveying an idealized yet individualized likeness of the empress. The circumferential Latin legend frames the portrait within a beaded border. |

Domitia Longina, wife of Domitian, occupied an unusually turbulent position at court. Domitian reportedly divorced her around 83 AD — possibly over an affair with the actor Paris, whom he subsequently had executed — before taking her back, and the CONCORDIA AVGVST reverse type issued in her name sits against that background of conspicuous marital instability. The legend was a public assertion, not a domestic reality.
RIC II.1 678 is among the rarer aurei of the Flavian empress series. Domitia outlived Domitian by decades, surviving his assassination in 96 AD and dying sometime under Hadrian.
