| Beschrijving keerzijde | Jupiter, nude to the waist and enthroned facing front, holds a thunderbolt in his raised right hand and a long sceptre in his left hand; at his feet to the left, an eagle stands with wings closed. The composition references Jupiter as the divine protector of the emperor, in keeping with Diocletian's identification with Iovius. The officina letter and mintmark PT (Prima officina, Treveri) appear in the exergue. The reverse legend IOVI CONSERVAT, identifying Jupiter as the Preserver, is inscribed in Latin capitals around the field. |
