Obverse description Bare-necked, laureate head of Constantine I (as Caesar) facing right, rendered in high relief with finely engraved hair short and close-cropped beneath the laurel wreath, whose berried leaves are depicted in naturalistic detail. The portrait displays the strong, idealized physiognomy characteristic of Tetrarchic imperial coinage, with a prominent jaw and sharply defined profile. The circular legend runs along the periphery within a beaded border. The field is plain and unadorned, allowing the bold portraiture to dominate the flan.
