Obverse description Bare head of Octavian (Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus) facing right, rendered in a youthful portrait style typical of the Caesarian period. The legend C·CAESAR·III·VIR·R·P·C encircles the effigy, reading around the periphery of the flan. The field is plain, and the design is contained within a border of dots. The coin bears an ancient piercing at the upper left, indicating it was at some point mounted or worn as a pendant.
