| Obverse description | Bare-headed and laureate draped bust of Divus Claudius facing right, rendered in the idealized portrait style characteristic of Trajanic restoration coinage. The effigy displays the emperor's distinctive physiognomy with curled hair surmounted by a wreath of laurel, with drapery visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The circumferential legend DIVVS CLAVDIVS is distributed across the field, reading from lower left to upper right, identifying the deified emperor. The portrait is modeled in high relief against a smooth field, consistent with the refined die-cutting technique of the Rome mint under Trajan. |
