Obverse description Diademed head of Libertas facing right, rendered with finely detailed curling hair secured by a twisted diadem, the locks falling in tresses behind the neck. The legend LIBERTAS is inscribed before the effigy, with M·AQVINVS·LEG continuing around the upper and left field, identifying the legate Marcus Aquinus as the issuing officer. The design is boldly struck in high relief consistent with late Republican hammered gold coinage, and the entire composition is enclosed within a neat border of beads.
