Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Carausius facing right, rendered in high relief with finely engraved hair and beard. The emperor wears a laurel wreath and paludamentum fastened at the shoulder, conveying imperial authority. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP C CARAVSIVS P F AVG, distributed around the effigy within a beaded border. The portrait exhibits the robust, individualistic style characteristic of late third-century Roman provincial die-cutting. The flan is irregular, consistent with hand-struck gold coinage of the Britannic breakaway empire.
