Obverse description Bare-headed bust of the emperor Caligula (Gaius Caesar Germanicus) facing right, rendered in a naturalistic Julio-Claudian portrait style with short, tightly curled hair and strong facial features. The effigy is depicted with a truncated, undraped bust, consistent with Roman Imperial aureus coinage of the early Principate. A beaded border encircles the field. The encircling legend reads C CAESAR AVG GERM P M TR POT, distributed around the portrait.
