Obverse description Bare head of Liber (Bacchus/Dionysus) facing right, wreathed with ivy leaves and berries in the Hellenistic tradition, rendered with flowing curled hair characteristic of the god's youthful iconography. The portrait is set within a beaded border, with the moneyer's legend disposed around the periphery of the field. The engraving reflects the refined Augustan classicising style, with careful attention to the naturalistic modelling of the facial features and the decorative foliage of the wreath.
