The legend AVGVSTO OB C S is arranged across two lines within the wreath, the dedicatory text referencing the civic crown awarded to Augustus by the Senate in 27 BC for saving the lives of Roman citizens. The wreath composition occupies the majority of the reverse field, with a beaded border visible along the coin's edge.
