| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered with finely detailed wavy hair swept across the brow in the characteristic Augustan classicizing style. The portrait displays a high-relief, idealized effigy with strong facial modeling typical of the finest Lugdunum or Rome mint dies of this period. The legend is divided around the bust, reading S P Q R to the left and IMP CAESARI to the right, both in crisp, well-spaced Latin capitals. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of hammered gold coinage of the late Republican and early Imperial era. No drapery or armor is visible; the truncation is clean at the base of the neck. |
