| Beschrijving keerzijde | Jupiter Tonans standing left within a hexastyle temple, his nude figure rendered with classical gravitas; he holds a thunderbolt in his raised right hand and leans upon a long vertical sceptre with his left. The temple facade is depicted with six columns and an elaborately detailed pediment, commemorating the Temple of Jupiter Tonans vowed by Augustus on the Capitoline Hill. The legend IOVIS TONANTIS is inscribed in the field or along the entablature of the temple. |
